So I recently changed my CPU Cooler, and now I'm getting this weird error where it won't boot and displays "a2" at the bottom right corner, this is a problem as it wont boot and is frozen. I have a temporary fix where I reseat any of my sata cables and it will boot. But this is a temporary fix as whenever I restart my pc it will do the same thing again. A2 error. I've reset cmos, reseated all pcie cables, reseated gpu and no fix. What is the fix for this issue?

PC Specs:

HDD: Seagate 2000GB

QUICK UPDATE

After trying to boot into my ssd it comes up with a message saying something like unable to boot press any key to try again or something. Now I can't even boot into windows anymore. I've tried booting into my windows 10 usb stick and it boots. Please help

Solution

Set the DVD or USB as next in Bios priority and your HDDs down the list and add them one at a time.
Hi MaxTehLegend :)

Qcode a2 is IDE detect so post is not recognizing your HDD and it's probably just a configuration issue.
Go into your Bios and set priority for the drive containing your HDD that has the OS system installed. Disconnect the other drive for the time being, which can be added later.
Check your drive is connected to the correct SATA port, that the SATA cables are functional and ensure your Bios is up to date.

Hey meanmachine thanks for answering

I've made sure my bios priority is set to my ssd. And took out my other harddrives and it boots. And my motherboard bios is up to date and I'm sure my drive is in the right sata port.

hey MeanMachine

ive just remembered. about a year or so ago my 500GB harddrive that i got from an old pc that i had i salvaged and turned out it did have bad sectors. that probably was the problem. ive taken it out and there are no more problems with booting anymore. that must have been the problem that was causing all this. i was so oblivious of how dangerous it is to have bad sectors for a harddrive. thanks for all your help.
