I'm slowly working through specing out my "dream machine", and have now come to the CPU cooler.

Bear with me while I play 20 questions 😛

Does anyone have any experience with this CPU cooler, and the kit it comes with? Is the thermal grease decent? Is the 92mm fan that comes with it any good? If not what is a good quiet CPU fan that would compliment the 6500?

I'd also be interested to know if anyone has tried to put one on an Abit IS7-G.. Further to that, an IS7-G running in an Antec Sonata case.. From the look of the case, there is plenty of room between the Power supply and the CPU..

Can someone tell me which direction the fins lie? The Antec Sonata exhausts below the power supply/above the AGP slot. From the look of this heatsink, I suspect the fins will not be running in the most desirable direction to make the most of the case airflow..

I'm a little concerned about the weight of this sucker.. Does anyone have any suggestions for a lighter cooler?

I do plan to OC, so don't want the cooler to be a significant limiter.

Any input/answers to my questions would be greatly appreciated.

I seem to keep posting how happy i am with the Zalman CNPS7000-AlCu. I am very impressed with Zalman as a company, and feel that they can do no wrong.
But i have to ask - whay buy a 6500 series? In my opinion the 7000 series is SOOO much better. Also, get the AlCu type as they are half the weight, a bit cheaper, and cool virtually as well.
I know i'm trying to guide you towards the one i got, but IT'S BLOODY GREAT.

Mmmm. Well I hadn't had a look at it since my shop didn't stock it, but they do today 😛

It looks much better - and much lighter with CuAl.

You using the 7000 to overclock? How hot is it?

I overclock my P4 1.6A to over 2 Ghz, CPU temp is between 52 and 55 C although room temp is quite hot at the moment (around 27 or 28 C).
