Zalman 9700 LED & NT

hey guys,
i need some advices from you experts.

i just ordered my E7200 today and would like to know
what the difference between CNPS9700 NT &
CNPS9700 LED version is? I know the NT version is nickel (or some other
metal) plated. The weight and surface area seems to be the same between the two. The LED version has a FAN-Mate controller but the NT version is PWM controlled.
Im guessing there is no difference between the two except for cosmetic ones?
I live in South Africa, so every thing is expensive and the selection small.
maybe you guys can scan through this list and maybe suggest a better one? (i am on a budget)

i will be mildly overclocking and i want to stay cool as it can get hot here (30C+). Maybe a 9500 would be better?

There is no reason to ever buy the Zalman 9700 anymore. It is more expensive than many coolers that woefully outperform it. It is...old.

Surely at least one of these can be had by you in South Africa for less than the outdated (and noisy under load) Zalman 9700.

Thanx for the list, but the shops here only carry asus and gigabyte coolers. Looks like i'll have to order from newegg or amazon, if they ship here.

the reason i was asking was that the NT is more expensive but contains alu. which should cost less? Must be the nickel then.

The asus silent square evo isn't a bad cooler. i have the smaller silent square and and OC fine with it.

Hey scruff, thanx for the site! But my dad is going to california for business and he said he'll pick up one for me, one thats in the list above. So i'm sorted.
Prices in SA are truly insane, @ take2 a Zalman is R600, thats more than twice than the price in the USA.
What coolers are you looking at?

The Zalman CNPS9700 LED is a great cooler.
I'd get the Thermalright Ultra-120 eXtreme, Thermalright Ultra-120, or the Zalman CNPS9700 LED.
I'm using a Zalman CNPS9500 LED on a Core 2 Quad Q9450 overclcocked to 3400MHz.

I'm looking at getting either the Zalman CNPS9700-NT or Thermalright iFX-14 Will just have to think bout it for a bit, money lil tight rigth now, lol.

Just read a review on the ifx-14. Its not so good, unless you want to lap it, then it shines.

Really? I've looked into it a bit a been rated very highly. Only thing that bothers me is the weight of it.

Anybody here got one of these bad boys yet?

Maybe the sample the site got was a bit crappy. Dnt get me wrong it's a real good hs, and the weight isn't really that bad. Most hs are that heavy these days.
