I bought this Zalman 9900 years ago to go with my old P4 chip thats a dinosaur now and I'm putting together my new rig.

Asus Sabertooth 990FX
AMD FD8120 Unlocked 3.0ghz

My question is will this ZF9225ATH Zalman fit ontop of that mobo/CPU combo. I would really love to avoid buying a new cooler as this one is so exceptional and the reviews of the 8core tells tales of much heat at OC speeds. Any advice would be welcomed.

Also I've disclosed my full potential build below. The processor is already purchased the remaining total is roughly 576 bucks. Any secondary input to this build would be greatly appreciated.

I did a fair bit of research today but love input.

AMD FD8120 Unlocked
HD 7850 2gig
Asus Sabertooth 990FX 2.0 Mobo
Samsung 840 Series 120g SSD (Optional but its only 109bucks)
2x4gig PNY DDR3 1866

Thank you.

Thank you, you have no idea how happy that makes me. I love being able to reuse items from older tech. Well I guess copper never really goes out of style but that doesn't mean it was going to fit.

I have my old monitor, keyboard, 550 PSU, very decent case and even a ol' platter on a spindle hah. Don't need to necessarily upgrade any of that. My monitor is 1400x900 which I can definitely DEAL with, the only huge upgrade would be an SSD because I've researched R/W times and they're beastly fast as they should be. =D

Also while I have such a knowledgeable person would the 125W and the HD 7850 tax my 550? It says 423 peak output, but its a BFG 550. Not sure how to analyze that without doing even more research.
