I'm installing the backplate of the Zalman cnps 8900 extreme, but there seems to be another backplate that's already on the motherboard that's interfering with the placement of the new one. Am I missing something? Should I remove this previously installed backplate? I didn't use the double sided sticky tape and loading block because the directions said socket 1155 didn't need it, though it said nothing about socket 1150 I'm using with the i7 4770k, Haswell core. Help!?!?!

Hey Ardent, I have a Asrock M8 as well. Installed a Cooler Master GeminII M4 in my rig, not the easiest thing to do granted the limited space and even so it barely fit. It keeps it reasonably cool, about 35 C idle and loads of about 60 C (Battlefield 4). When I was installing the cpu cooler I noticed the same backplate but my socket 1150 Intel mounting kit that came with the CM GeminII just fit over it. Some pics would help.

Sorry, what's the appropriate thread? That means unscrewing the three 6-point star screws from the top? Will that top piece (that holds the CPU?) fall off? I'm doing all of this with two ground wires attached to the motherboard and limited space in the M8, so I'm just trying to be really cautious.

I just remove the three screws and now the front/top piece that holds the CPU has no way of screwing into the backplate of the Zalman. The screws were held in, screwed into, the original backplate, and the Zalman backplate doesn't have holes or even threads... Thoughts?
