Zalman CNPS9000 To Motherboard

So, my CPU Cooler isn't connected directly to the Mobo. It's connected to a speed setting device first, and then to the Mobo. If I plug it on the Mobo directly, is it going to run at max speed automatically? If yes, is that bad?

Because the cooler only has the 3-pin connector, if you plug it to the MB directly it will run at full speed. If you connect it with the Fan Speed Controller, then you can change the speed.

I am aware of all this! The thing is, running the CPU Cooler at full speed, will it result in burning it or damaging it?
