I have a asus P5N-E SLI motherboard, and thought this big thing would fit, but i am about a quater inch off. I need to either bend or cut the bottom two fins in one corner to make it fit.

It is touching the top of the chipset on the motherboard.

Was wondering if it is ok to cut the fins, or bend them. If so, cut or bend? I think probably 2 or 3 rows will need cut/bent to make it not touch the chipset.

any advice appreciated

Sure, it is a very small percentage of the total surface area. Bend or cut gently. Try to not let the fin slide on the heatpipe when you do your business.

What would Waldo do? Take the HS out of the case for sure and carefully dremel the fins off. Blow it with compressed air to get rid of bits and have a beer.
