Zoomed in / large mouse cursor...

I recently installed Windows 8, and noticed the mouse was quite large. Thought it might be because Microsoft focussed on tablets and that later updates would fix this. Continued to use it, and install updates, and then Windows 8.1. The mouse cursor is still large, I tried changing it and it remains large, and it's not a large cursor, it's ZOOMED IN...

At the log in screen it is normal sized, and when I drag a window it shows the regular sized cursor... but other than that it is always a pixelated large zoomed in cursor.

Any ideas?

Mobo: Gigabyte Ultra Durable Z97P-D3
GPU: Sapphire Tri-X R9 290 (OC)

I was not too sure about the drivers, my disc drive was not functioning properly so I downloaded the drivers myself. Is it just the GPU that requires drivers as far as internal components go?

Hmm, yeah I did try different resolutions before but the only thing that would fix it was enabling shadows on the cursor. I installed the latest drivers from the AMD site and now it appears to have been fixed, even without shadows.

I will restart to see if it will remain fixed.
