Hey guys!

My computer boots right up with a 3070 and I can't figure out what to do to get 3060 to boot.

Motherboard: Gigabyte x570 Pro Wifi
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
GPU: Zotac 3060ti twin edge OC gaming
Ram: Corsair Dominator 8gb 3200
PSU: EVGA Supernova GA 850W Gold
BIOS: latest f34

FYI the Zotac 3060 ti works perfectly in 2 other computers I've tested both with different brand b550 boards. Also, 3070 is ASUS Rog Strix.

Troubleshooting I've done..
  • I've updated to most recent bios
  • disabled CSM
  • tested pci 3 and 4 settings in bios
  • updated gpu drivers
  • tried different pcie slots on mobo
  • cleared cmos on 2 different occasions
  • tried a different psu with different pcie cables
  • tried a pcie riser
  • tried booting the computer with 3070 and 3060 connected and still had vga light
  • tried different ram configurations and ram sticks
Any help, advice, or ideas are greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

If you want the platform to be as snappy as possible, you're advised to have CSM disabled, meaning that it's in UEFI mode alone. On the donor systems that the RTX 3060 seems to work on, are they the same specs as your current build? How did you update GPU driver on the platform if your can't get the RTX3060 to work? You're advised to remove all remnants of GPU drivers using DDU then powering down, then drop in the RTX3060 in place of the RTX3070 and then power up to manually install GPU drivers.

Speaking of drivers, what version of Windows 10 are you working with? If you're working with one stick of ram, you're advised to drop it into slot A2 or B2.

When clearing CMOS, the system was disconnected from...

When clearing CMOS, the system was disconnected from the wall and monitor and then the power button was held for 30 secs to drain any residual power?

Thank you for taking the time to respond!

Disabling CSM didn't fix it. The donor system has very similar specs, only difference is mobo is b550 on donor and x570 on current.
I updated the drivers by booting with the 3070. I haven't done the DDU method so I'll try that now and report back the outcome.

I'm using Windows 10 pro 64 bit with one stick of ram in the A2 slot.

The system was fully disconnected for CMOS clear and the battery was removed for 3-5m, I didn't hold the power button to drain capacitors so ill try that again.

Will update after trying these.

I just uninstalled all gpu drivers via ddu, still get the red vga light on the 3060. Also cleared cmos again and nothing. Now reinstalling latest nvidia gpu drivers and will try again after.
