Zotac 770 idling at 50c

I've had the card for about 4 years, and for the most part when I've checked it has been idling at roughly 29c/33c.

About a month ago I installed an SSD (Samsung 850 evo 250gb to be exact) and today is the first time I've checked the temps since, which now has the card idling dead on 50c without moving up or down.

Under load the card pushes up to about 70c as normal, some games pushing it to 80c where it remains.

However I was wondering what may be keeping the card at such an idle temp? The power management is set to "Samsung High Peformance" with regards to getting the most out of the ssd.

Thanks for any help!

There...
Idling at 50 C is a bit high, but so long as your max temperatures are within the safe range, you should be okay. I would check the driver to see if you have any "silent mode" stuff turned on, or if you have proper airflow.

The SSD should not have any effect on the GPU's thermals.

I would try to clean out the card by removing it from your case and using compressed air to blow out any dust from the heat sink and fans that has accumulated over time.

If that does not lower your temps it might be time to change the thermal paste. To do this you will need to disassemble the GPU. So only do this if you feel comfortable with such a task. It should lower your temps if the old thermal paste has hardened.

Yep, i would say you do what the guy from above says. Maybe the thermal compound needs changing, or overall the car needs cleaning. Although, i dont get the fact that the gpu sets 70C on load.

I'm not entirely sure. When i finish with my games, the card will cool down and go no lower than 50c, that's a bit strange. Even if I leave the windows open at night and let the room get really cool, it'll only drop to around 45c-48c.

There cannot be a connection between you installing an SSD and your GPU temps.

Even if you had strapped the SSD to the back-plate of your GPU it cannot have this effect.

If you check your SSD temps you will notice that it is probably around the 25-35c. How can it have an effect on your GPU?

I believe the culprit is most likely the thermal paste on your GPU (or a very dirty GPU heatsink). If you clean the heatsink and replace the thermal paste then we can eliminate those are factors and start looking at other things like the possibility that your GPU may have overheated (very unlikely) at some point, etc, etc.
