Hello guys! I need to make a final decission on what card to take. So the thing is that even though I know that the difference between gtx 1070 ti and gtx 1080 is about 5% I still need to pick a card. I will start by saying that I am looking for a quiet card as my build is right at my ear and I haven't tested this zotac amp by myself. I had only tested the zotac amp extreme (yes I was looking at the reviews on the sites as techpowerup and other , all tend to be good) , but if it comes to my stuff I am very picky. 😀

I will tell you what the deal is. I can get msi gaming x , but gtx 1070 ti for 10 gbp less than the zotac 1080 , but let's be ohnest the 1080 will be easier to sell in the future probabbly and maybe valued more. I am considering a asus strix as I am a fan of these cards , but as a audiofile I want my card to be very quiet as I am working on my open headset and my computer is about 30-40cm away from both of my ears guys.

What are your thoughts? Do you think that I should go for this zotac and will be happy with it or keep calm and get a lower end card by 4-5% but take something that is more popular like msi gaming x or asus strix?

This is a zotac that I have tested.: https://www.morele.net/karta-graficzna-zotac-geforce-gtx-1080-amp-extreme-edition-8gb-gddr5x-256-bit-3xdp-hdmi-dvi-box-zt-p10800b-10p-1028977/

This is the card that I have never been in touch with and I am considering to buy.: https://www.x-kom.pl/p/387532-karta-graficzna-nvidia-zotac-geforce-gtx-1080-8gb-gddr5x.html

All the other cards.:

Asus strix.: https://www.x-kom.pl/p/391266-karta-graficzna-nvidia-asus-geforce-gtx-1070-ti-rog-strix-gaming-8gb-gddr5.html

Msi gaming x.: https://www.morele.net/karta-graficzna-msi-geforce-gtx-1070-ti-gaming-8gb-gddr5-256-bit-dvi-d-hdmi-3xdp-box-978834/

Ps. One last thing. I am very highly considering taking zotac as they do allow to take off the cooler and don't void the warranty for that as msi does. I want this feature as I know that after two years I have had the problems with a lot of cards as the thermal compound that manufacturers are giving is not the best quality and not once by replacing it I had a drop of 10-15 degrees celcius.

Thank you all for the answers and wish you happy new year. Every word metters and is appreciated. :)

I'd go for the 1080. This 1080 is what I chose yesterday. I don't have the card yet. With that 144Hz monitor I'd want my frame rate to be as close as possible to the refresh rate. To be frank the 1070 Ti will get the job done. OC'd it's neck and neck with the 1080.

Do you use headphones? I went for noise cancelling headphones so I'd not have any interruptions. That 1080's fans don't kick on until it gets to 60C. While you're not gaming it will obviously be silent. MSI AB is always there to change that fan curve if you want.

I am playing at 1080p at 144hz , thanks for asking , as I forgot to add that , but I had the gtx 1070 allready , so considering the gtx 1070ti or gtx 1080 as let's be ohnest there isn't anything like lasting so much longer with gtx 1080 as the difference between both card are 5%. My gtx 1070 (not 1070 ti) which I had wasn't able to play the witcher 3 with over 100fps all the time.

My question is more or less pointing in direction of your thoughts on whether take a 5% slower card , but more reliable like msi or asus or take 5% faster card (gtx 1080) , but zotac as it is a little bit faster and probabbly easier to sell in two years. I will play at 1440p/4k sooner or later as I will buy a monitor like that in two years , but this card that I will buy right now is not probabble to play with that way better monitor , so the resolution thread is not the choosing point in this case.

What are your thoughts about this thread? Would you personally go for the gtx 1070 ti , but with better renome manufacturer or take gtx 1080 , but with not so good renome manufecturer? Highly waiting on your answer as well as other people's. Thank you for trying to help me with this case! :)

Ps. I will wait for more answers as I am also curious about what do people think about gtx 1070ti as customers , if the cards are making any sense to buy and if nvidia is backed up with releasing the cards by the people all over the world. Have a great day! :)

They will all perform similarly. Base your choice on warranty length first, then price second. Zotac typically offers weak warranties, so I would recommend looking at the other two brands first. Look at Gigabyte's offerings too. They are excellent GPUs.

While I've had very good luck with Gigabyte in the past (2 GPUs x 5 years no problems), the warranty is what sold me yet again. On some models they offer a FOUR year warranty with a simple registration online. Consider it. Insurance only seems unimportant until you need it.

I do use headphones. I am just an audiofile. I work a lot in fl studio as well and I use open headphones (preferations) and that's the reason why am I looking for a quiet card. Glad to hear that you also bought the same zotac card. :)

I will take the zotac 1080 , I can always return it to the shop if I don't want to.

Answer to the other response about gigabyte , I can only take a gigabyte blower style cooler , so not even thinking about it. Aorus is like 100 euros more than the zotac and I don't have so much money.

Thanks to every one for the answers!

One more thing , I can get msi armor though for 15$ more then zotac , but is it worth it? I used the msi armor gtx 1060 , but not gtx 1080. It wasn't that loud but the 1060 is a cool card. Should I spend the extra for it? It doesn't have the led's , no backplate or anything , so the only metter is a metter of sound then if I would take it to the consideration. Happy new year guys! :)

That is the card I linked to in my original answer. I did however have to settle with a blower style Gigabyte. Prices are very fluid over at Amazon. The Armor went from $534 up to $619. No thanks. The GIgabyte OC should be $499 but I got it for $529. Miners:pfff:

That's why I will stick to zotac , 5 year warranty , metal backplate , led lights , but we will see how cool it is and also how loud it is. I will get the card at 14'th of january , as the shop needs to get it in stock. Thank you all for helping me , the crucial answer that made me choose zotac was aquielisunari's answer. The only problem with them is that they have the service at makao so I would need to send it there for warranty... But we will handle that though. Thanks to all of you! :)

Hi I dont know if you purchased yet, but I think you may have, but if not I own the Zotac your talking about. I also own 2 EVGA FTW 2'S. The OCing on the EVGA is very good but the Zotac has a better power control which will allow you to receive the OCing without the larger power. My EVGA's can run at 139 watts with these settings 75 PL and core 50 mem 700 and I can reach the beginning of the Zotac which will need a little more power which will be in the 140 PL but the wattage is so crazy that I turn it down and receive lower wattage and strong performance., I love both. But all depends on what you receive from the factory.
