There's several good cards so look carefully. The Gigabyte models are nice etc

My top choices are roughly:
1) GB (Extreme)-> http://pcpartpicker.com/part/gigabyte-video-card-gvn98txtreme6gd

2) Asus (Gold)-> http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-video-card-matrixgtx980tip6gd5gaming
and Strix-> http://pcpartpicker.com/part/asus-video-card-strixgtx980tidc3oc6gd5gaming

3) EVGA-> http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-06gp44998kr

Please do some research before posting.

That's the Extreme model but your statement about Zotac being for "cheapos" is just silly.

This is the homepage for the Omega version: https://www.zotac.com/us/product/graphics_card/gtx-980-ti-amp-omega

Having said that, I'd personally go with a different model. I'll post this and reply back.

Notes:
- the "VR" edition has an HDMI output opposite end to normal so the short cable can run to the addon at the front of the case (to easily attach a VR HUD like the Oculus Rift)

- EVGA Hybrid is interesting, but I have mixed feelings. the pump can always fail of course, and while the GPU runs about 50degC max at normal ambient room temp, it's not necessarily quieter or better performing than other cards.

The Hybrid to me makes the most sense for smaller cases to exhaust heat or possibly dual-GPU setups for the same reason.

- Techpowerup and other places do good reviews. Note that the default clock speeds on some are higher than others. Some cost more because they used binned GPU's so don't assume a cheaper card will necessarily overclock higher. Conversely though, some cards do have a lot more overclocking left. Some companies tend to keep clocks slightly lower (which should statistically increase reliability).
