I recently came across a deal on the Zotac GTX 1080 AMP edition 8GB DDR5 selling at $860. Normal retail price from where I am from is at $1040. That's about $180 difference. Both at brand new.

As a form of price calibration,
Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 1060 retails at $479
Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 1070 retails at $729
Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 1080 retails at $1060

I am building a brand new PC build, buying parts just at deals come along. I just got a Dell S2316H for it's slimness and price effectiveness. It is 1080p at 60Hz.

While the Zotac GTX 1080 I saw certainly is a deal, it definitely is an overkill for me. Was wondering how the build quality of the Zotac is and should I get it. A GTX 1060 would definitely meet my needs at slightly above half the price of the Zotac GTX 1080.

I'm currently on a 6 year refresh cycle for my desktop PCs so advice would be welcomed!

it's really not a bad card. zotac is a fine brand. they've been around for quite some time now. there are tons of reviews for that particular gtx 1080. reading just a few of them will give you a good idea that the card is not of cheap quality.

Zotac is a nice option of graphics card but there are still companys out there who graphics cards are better. Nvidia, MSI, gigabyte, etc. But for $180 The price beats the quality for $180. Someone plz quote me on that. So defiantly go for a zotac 1080 if its $860. Just my opinion

In what ways do the overclockable cards differ from each other? Better quality components? Performance wise, all should be roughly similar
