Question Zotac GTX 1080 ti blower thermal pads replacement?

Hello,
I bought a used zotac gtx 1080 ti blower edition and the thermal paste need to be replaced from the seller sayings.

Based on the model I think I have to remove the whole heatsink to replace that paste.
Which brings me to my questions
Do I need to replace the thermal pads?
Is it necessary?

No, it is not necessary for GDDR5X memory. Some air passing over them is enough.
Different story for GDDR6 and R6X chips.

Repaste the gpu die. As for the rest, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Been running a Kraken G12 on my 1080Ti for just shy of 4 years, with nothing on the memory.
Not a hitch from it. Case air and the single fan are adequate.
