Does anyone know if this cpu will bottleneck this GPU? I can't even run borderlands on high. Any ideas why?

Solution
Its not really a bottleneck, its just an extremely weak processor.
A better processor would help you out, but so would a new GPU after a new processor.

I do not think the CPU is bottlenecking. Weak CPU or not, even at bottlenecking performance would run borderlands fine. You could be having some other issue.

I'm running borderlands with a 750 ti best friends with an Intel i3 without problem on max, your CPU should be on par with mine.

What do you mean you can't run borderlands (or any other game)? You launch the game and it crashes or they do run but laggy?

In the meanwhile check the temps, update to the latest GPU driver and provide us with more info about your system (hardware and software).

Cheers.

EDIT: 750's have zero problems with temps but the CPU in the other hand may be susceptible to high ones. Low ammounts of RAM can also be an issue, maybe an antivirus?

And yet a i3 4130 is actually alot stronger then fx-8100, when coming to gaming. Higher clock speeds on each core is favored, the i3 has less cores but they are clocked alot more then the fx-8100's 8 cores

I don't get it. I was able to run borderlands fine in my old setup (AMD Athlon II X2 250 with GeForce GTS 450, loved that PC) but now everyone is saying that a FX-8100, a newer 4 modules/8 threads CPU, is too weak to run any games...is it really that bad?

hmmm, i'm surprised. I was 4 years with my Athlon II (great experience) and then moved to Intel last year so I never got to try FX cpus but I always thought the FX as they were newer they would outperform my old Athlon II, apparently I was wrong. AMD must have deeply screwed up with these ones. Sounds like crazy talking but now all facts seems to be truth, all those complaints from AMD users and there was I blindly recommending the FX-6000 series based on my experience with the Athlon II, shame on me

So it was the op's CPU after all, it's incredible...glad i learned something new...10/10 would go back to Athlon II again (+8000 thumbs up)
