Evening All,

received my Zotac OC trinity 3080 recently - I normally use MSI afterburner to monitor everything and deal with Fan curves etc.

I have noticed at IDLE MSI afterburner is showing high clocks constantly "1725mhz " Should it only be this high if there was something using the gpu ? I have a fresh build etc and don't see anything if task manager utilizing gpu.
Did switch over to EVGA'S precision and that states the same and it's the same with Firestorm (Pile of crap btw)

Any idea's? Temps at idle are roughly 56-58 which is kind of normal I believe for the 3080's

thanks in advance all

I just ran precision. I'm sitting at 32 degrees actually. Just browsing the internet. You card should not be running that hot or fast unless you are playing a game or benchmarking or something.

Believe I figured it out .... Under clockspeed you can set the curve while picking a box and hitting the "L" key to lock it in at the speed. So i selected the lowest and now it sits idle at 1275 which is better. Not sure what i have done has fixed it but must be slightly better for the card

Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Power Management Mode is set to Max Performance?
Adaptive and Optimal will clock down when it's not in use.

Just tried changing that to either one and still ... constant 1725mhz, so strange

Even within task manager, there is nothing using the GPU apart from a few using 0.1%

I had same problem with this card. GPU was also always on 30% of max power and temperature from 50 to 60° C. Today i just uninstall all components of nvdidia drivers (drivers itself, nvidia experience, psyhX etc.). I had reboot few times and then install just actual drivers (some older will install automatically) and.. heureka, its ok now. Basic clock of GPU is 210 Mhz and MEM 405 Mhz. Temperature if about 36-45 and funs is on 0 RPM - idle.
In games i have max 73° C. I love this card with my LG BX 55".

Hello, had the same problem with a rtx 3080 gaming OC. GPU clock staying at 1800 MHZ and Mem clock at 19000. It seems that the culprit for me was NVIDIA Broadcast. Closing the app (it usually stays open in background) got the idle frequency to drop to normal 210 MHZ gpu and ~800 MHZ mem. Also found this video about, it seems that there are multiple persons having the same issue.

Just wanted to say a massive thank you for spotting this. I could not find anything that would drop my 3080 OC edition back to 0mhz when it's not in use.
