The not so new Intel 5xxx series WIFI chipset can support Ad Hoc connection. Each laptop can become an Access Point by itself, plus enabling ICS it is actually a free portable router.

Just what the world needed, another box to carry around.
The only use I can see for this is using it to break into networks where there signal is really extremely low for a standard wifi card to catchup with.
The rest just makes it a standard router, no big shakes, for that.
