I am a novice. I bought a new NSA320. I want to use it to store movies and music on. I bought two used WD Green 1.5 TB disk for it. The lights all show steady green as they should. But it says to use the NAS Starter utility to find the drives. It does show NSA320 connected, but o available.I assume because the drives aren't formated. I assumed this software would help format the drives. So I am not sure if I have-

Bad Drives
I don't know how to format the drives.
I need to access the server some other way?
Need a Port forwarded.

I have a 2701-HGB modem/router that the phone line comes into with dsl. It connects through wi-fi to my computer, ipad, roku, etc.
I have nothing wired at this time. (In the spring I am pulling wires)

So I have the NSA320 plugged into a jack in the back of the router. Is this correct? Or do I have to have a switch of some kind.

Any point in the right direction to look would be appreciated.

PS the NSA320 does show up on my network on the router firewall settings (Not sure if the settings are correct though)

It sounds like your box was missing both the quick start guide and the users manual so I've linked them both here for you to read.
ftp://ftp2.zyxel.com/NSA320/quick_start_guide/NSA320_3.pdf
ftp://ftp2.zyxel.com/NSA320/user_guide/NSA320_4.40.pdf

Since it sounds like you have it installed correctly already you probably can skim thru the first part of the quickstart guide and pickup on the actual configuring and using section on page 15.

I hope you got the installation cd but if you are missing that then you can download the software from here:
