Hi guys,

I have a 'primary' router (Linksys EA4500), which is working well. I can connect to it in 2.4 Ghz, and 5 Ghz without any problem. It uses WPA2.

I bought a ZyXEL Wap3205 v2, because I wanted to extend the wifi coverage. I follow the instructions and set the device as a 'universal repeater'.

The problem: despite of I can connect to it, the repeater device has a very unstable signal.

The green curve is my ZyXEL device's signal, the other ones are my neighbour's devices.

I've searched in many forums what can be the problem, tried almost all of the settings, what the device is offers to me, but no luck so far.

Maybe hardware problem ?

Thank you.

Solution
Possibly.

"Instructions" being the User's Guide - i.e.:

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1054231/Zyxel-Communications-Wap3205-V2.html?page=11#manual

Check and watch the status lights. Run through the troubleshooting options.

Check for a firmware update.

Check the wall outlet - make sure there is no electrical problem there.

Just for troubleshooting purposes are you able to connect it up as an Access Point to see if it works correctly in that mode?

May help eliminate or verify some hardware problem depending on the resulting signals and connection stability.

Solution
Haven't tried the device as an Access Point yet, but this is a good tip, thank you. I'll try it soon.
