CPU - Intel i9 14900k
GPU - ASUS NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16GB ProArt OC
Motherboard - MSI Intel MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK WIFI DDR5 ATX
RAM - Corsair DOMINATOR Titanium RGB Black 32GB(2x16GB) 6000MHz CL30
Storage - 1x Samsung 990 PRO 1TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe, 1x Samsung 990 PRO 2TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe
PSU - Be quiet! Dark Power 13 1000 Watt 80+ Titanium
Cooler - Arctic Liquid Freezer III 360mm

This is what I've currently got in my basket. Want a build that's going to last me a very long time. The only part unsure about is my Motherboard. Is there something better/newer anyone could recommend to me or is what i've chosen good enough?

Thanks for all the feedback!

The Tomahawk line has generally been considered a decent offering for the price range. There are certainly boards with more feature and thicker PCB and so on, but don't think you would be upset over having this one.

I cannot recall for sure without backing out to check, but wasn't the LF3 the cooler that TH just did the review on which was a bit less than expected for performance?

Yes, read here:

Makes some sense after reading that thread. & after doing some more research a lot of people are raving about the the 'Lian Li Galahad II Performance 360' but seen more reviews of the pump failing. Do you recommend a better AIO?

What are you using it for? You might consider looking at amd. Been since online some reports of folks having stability issues with the higher end 13th and 14th CPUs. Someone else may be able to elaborate.

Gaming, multitasking, streaming, photo editing. Will be going to 4k at a later date.

MSI's z790 boards have suffered from cracked chipsets. So you're taking a risk there. Fine motherboard if unaffected.

Whichever motherboard you go with, check it's QVL for the RAM you intent to buy. Only buy certified compatible RAM unless you're confident you can deal with compatibility issues. Since you want a long term build, try to avoid instability.

Check the prices and features of previous gen flagship motherboards. An AsRock z690 Riptide or z690 Extreme might surprise you. They only need to be flashed to an up to date BIOS and they will happily take your 14th gen i9.

You will not experience any difference in speed between gen 3, gen 4, and gen 5 M.2 NVMe drives. So save yourself some money and take a 4Tb Crucial P3 Plus instead of a second Samsung 990 Pro. Keep the OS drive Samsung though. It's very good and very reliable.

I don't have experience with liquid cooling so i'll leave that to someone else, or you can check the many "best liquid cooler" articles.
Consider how much a case can contribute to cooling. An oven case is not going to help things.

The 14900K is an abomination. If you're dead set on that cpu then look at a 420 AIO, a case to fit said AIO (Lancool III) and a 18+ phase board. I would consider something like this seeing how you plan on 4K gaming.

Appreciate this feedback! Thank you.

Atter seeing news about motherboard manufacturers overvolting the chips and changing intels default settings they may be a fix coming in the near future so i feel a bit more comfortable in sticking with the 14900k. I will however take on board your opinions about some of the other parts and will check these out in the morning.
