Question Old hard drive in replacement computer - "Activate Windows" message keeps popping up.

Had to buy another Aurora R4 when the power switch on my old one fell apart. Installed the old hard drive ( with W8, which for me has worked perfectly!), and everything seems so far to work perfectly. However, it keeps coming up with a full screen warning to"Activate Windows", but does nothing when I click on the Activate button.

Anyone know how to get rid of this problem? I understand that it is due to the HD now communicating with a different mother board than what it was originally licensed to. I can get it to go away, but it comes back later. A bit of an aggravation!

Any ideas?

With Windows 10 and beyond, the license key is tied to the BIOS for your motherboard, so your platform change to the other system is why you see the need for activation.

Anyone know how to get rid of this problem?
Contact Microsoft and get your account activated...if not, you will need a new license key.

Your original system came with Win 8 preinstalled?

That OEM is not transferable to new hardware by yourself.
You'll need to contact MS for this.

The computer was used when I bought it and came with W8 installed.

Looks like I'll just have to live with it!
