Question PC problem after it got a BSOD ?

HELP…..

My son’s computer got the BSOD a few days ago, since then I have tried everything to sort out the issue. My problem was that I couldn’t even boot into safe mode to restore any of the settings. I got advised to remove the CMOS battery and now I get the following screens. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.


It won’t let me upload my images. I first get taken to the viglen interface, then when I exit this I get taken to the EFI Shell version 2.31 device mapping table

Prior to the BSOD, was anything installed or changed with the system? Any previous warnings?

I’m not 100% sure what the cause was. My son said he was trying to download something not sure exactly what and that he had deleted certain things aswell

Looks like the HDD is already set as the default device.

Just to verify, whenever you try booting the system, it goes straight to the BIOS. Is that correct?

It goes to the device mapping EFI system screen

Try this, use the manual boot selection function to select the HDD and see if the behavior changes at all.

Didn’t work unfortunately. Once I pressed f11 i had 4 options (picture on link below). I tried each of the options and it just takes me back to the EFI screen.

That implies an issue with your HDD and/or SSD.

You may need to open the case to determine the make/model of your storage devices.

So neither of those show up in your boot options, correct?

If both are attached properly (SATA data to each device and the motherboard AND SATA power from the PSU), this may be a motherboard failure. This is an older system (4th gen Intel).

You can try changing to different SATA ports on the motherboard.
