Hello everyone!

I have a question regarding a component I would like to buy.
I have a Gigabyte, 450 Gaming X motherboard.
After adding an SSD in the M.2 slot, 2 SATA ports are disabled, expected outcome.

I have some pcie slots currently unused, and I found this kind of adaptor on the web:
https://www.amazon.com/BEYIMEI-Cont...-2-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&psc=1

How will this work? will it have a conflict with existing components?
I did not find anything in the mb manual: https://download.gigabyte.com/FileL...102_v1.pdf?v=091add554e0ffb2b27fbe53efc4d9b34

Currently only the PCIEX4 is used (i can switch what is there in PCIEX16).

Thank you!

Currently only the PCIEX4 is used (i can switch what is there in PCIEX16).

From motherboard specs:

1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16 (PCIEX16)
1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x4 (PCIEX4)

* The PCIEX4 slot shares bandwidth with the PCIEX1_2 slot. The PCIEX4 slot operates at up to x2 mode when the PCIEX1_2 slot is populated. The PCIEX4 slot operates at up to x4 mode when the PCIEX1_2 is empty.

This means,
if you install PCIE x1 card in PCIEX16(PCIEX4) slot (lower x16 slot), this doesn't impact any other slots,
if you install PCIE x1 card in PCIEX1_1 slot, this doesn't impact any other slots,
if you install PCIE x1 card in PCIEX1_2 slot, then PCIEX16(PCIEX4) slot switches into x2 mode.

You should install your graphics card in upper PCIEX16 slot.

Note: there are also PCIE x4 versions of PCIE sata controller card. That one can not be installed into PCIE x1 slot.

Thank you for looking into this!
Valuable. I will most probably do it like this.
From the specs, there are 6x SATA ports.

Assuming 2 of them are disabled, how many SATA drives do you have/need?

Currently I have around 6 that I would need.
Probably there are 2 that I can put on standby out of the 6.
In the past they were connected to a different computer, that was doing its job, until the temperature started jumping to 85 in idle and almost 100 when doing basic things, and then it stopped working pretty much.
