Got some great help recently as I try to do some budget upgrades on my PC. I have an RX 580 8GB and I'll be upgrading my CPU to a 5600X or 5700X. My mobo has a PCIe16 slot running at 3.0. I just read something about using a GPU with PCIe x 8 in a x16 slot and that it might weaken performance. Should I be worried about this?

I have been looking at cards like the 6600XT and 6650XT which are listed as PCIe 4.0 x 8. Is it ever better to go with an older card that has x16? Am I over thinking things here, especially since I'm not building a cutting edge system?

Thanks!

Almost no difference in 3.0 and 4.0 using either card listed.
