Fix Windows 10 error 0xc00000e9
If Windows cannot access a file on a hard drive for some reason, it can return one of a number of errors. If it thinks the hard drive is fault, one of them is the 0xc00000e9 error. It doesn’t mean the drive is in fact faulty though. There are a few things you can try before checking the drive itself.

1. Navigate to Settings, Update & Security, Windows Update.
2. Check for updates and download them.
3. Reboot and retry.

Or:

1. Manually update your graphics, audio and network drivers.
2. Manually update any other third party drivers on your computer.

Or:

Disable malware scanners and antivirus software and retest. Don’t forget to turn them back on again once finished testing.

Or:

1. Navigate to Settings, Update & Security and Recovery.
2. Select ‘Get started’ under Reset this PC.
3. Select ‘Keep my files’ and complete the process.

If none of those steps work, we need to check the hard drive itself.

1. Check the SATA/IDE cable is seated properly. Change it for a spare and retest.
2. Do the same for the power cable into your hard drive.
3. Swap the hard drive for a spare if you have access to one.

One of those steps is sure to fix the 0xc00000e9 error. Hopefully it’s just a software glitch and not a hardware issue!
