Not too keen on power armor and would prefer to walk the wasteland in style, but still protected? Let me show you how by achieving both the most stylish look, and the most protection you can possibly get this side of the X-01 power armor!
Step 1) Get the armorer perk.
You are going to need the 4th rank of this to pull this off, which means having a strength of at least 3 and getting to level 39.
Step 2) Complete some quests for the Railroad.
Even if you aren't level 39 yet, I would suggest getting started on this as soon as possible. Once you have finished a few quests for them and get the recipe from them for this armor, you can then make the decision of if you want to continue working for them, or join another faction. You aren't required to go past the point of no return and sign up permanently with them here.
Step 3) Be given the ballistic weave armor mod.
Once you have done a few initial quests for the Railroad, P.A.M. will give you some minor quests to secure a few caches. These are the quests we are looking for here. You'll have to do at least one or two of these before you can talk to Tinker Tom, who will show you how this ballistic weave technology works. From there on, you will be able to weave many outfits with this.
Step 4) Weave your favorite outfit at an armorer workbench.
Now that you have the technology, you can set up your stylish gear to also be your best line of defense. Got a nice Trilby hat that gives you some extra luck? Or maybe some army fatigues for some extra strength and agility. Weave them up, the MK5 ballistic weave gives a whooping 110 damage and energy resistance, and you can do this to a hat and under armor both, for a total of 220 resistance. If you do this to an outfit that lets you wear armor over it, you can increase that even further!
Now you can walk through the wasteland in a stylish hat and suit of your choice, and those raider bullets will practically ping off that fancy suit without leaving a scratch.
