How to import iPhone photos into Windows 10

If you use an iPhone and a Windows computer, you will undoubtedly already know that they speak completely different languages. However, clever Microsoft have added a new feature into Windows 10 called the Phone Companion and it can translate between the two. That means you can import iPhone photos into Windows 10 with ease.

The Phone Companion works with iPhone, Android and of course, Windows Phone. It acts as the middleman, enabling you to sync files and settings between devices even if they speak different languages. Given how much we all depend on our phones, it is a very welcome addition to Windows 10!

Import iPhone photos into Windows 10
It is very straightforward to set up Phone Companion to import iPhone photos into Windows 10.

1. Type or paste ‘phone’ into the Search Windows box.
2. Select Phone Companion and open the app.
3. Select iPhone or iPad when the app window appears.
4. Add your Microsoft account in the next window and click Sign in.
5. Select ‘Get started’ in the next window.
6. Select ‘Yes this is me!’ in the next window if the details displayed are correct.
7. Add your email address in the next window and Microsoft will email you a link to OneDrive for iPhone.
8. Open the link on your iPhone and install and configure the app.
9. Add your Microsoft account into the app, tap Camera Upload and toggle it on.
10. Select OK when you see ‘OneDrive would like to access your photos’.
11. Complete the app configuration as you see fit, making sure you allow OneDrive to access your location. This step includes basic app permissions on your iPhone so there is unfortunately no choice but to enable it.
12. Click the Start button back on your computer once the app is configured.
13. Select Photos and then the gear icon in the bottom left.
14. Toggle ‘Show my cloud-only content from OneDrive’ to on.
15. OneDrive will now import your iPhone photos into Windows 10.
