How to Upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10
Ever since Microsoft announced a free upgrade to Windows 10 for users Windows 7 and Windows 8 devices for one year after its official release, people have been rushing to try it.
Although you can upgrade Windows 7 using a bootable Windows 10 installation disc, there is another, quicker way to do this. You can start the Windows 7 upgrade process right from within the operating system itself and can follow Windows’ step-by-step setup instructions.
Here is how:

Although you can upgrade Windows 7 using a bootable Windows 10 installation disc, there is another, quicker way to do this. You can start the Windows 7 upgrade process right from within the operating system itself and can follow Windows’ step-by-step setup instructions.
Here is how:
- ■Make sure you are logged on to Windows 7 computer with an administrator account.
■Insert the Windows 10 installation DVD in the CD/DVD drive. Alternatively you can also copy the contents of the disc in a folder on any partition other than C: drive on your local hard drive.
■From the AutoPlay box that pops up, click Run setup.exe.
Note: If the AutoPlay box doesn’t appear, you can double-click the CD/DVD drive icon in the Computer window, or double-click the setup.exe file from inside the DVD itself. If you have copied the files to a folder, you can go to the folder and double-click the setup.exe file from there.
■On the User Account Control confirmation box, click Yes to continue.
■Wait until Windows 10 prepares the files for installation.
■On the Get important updates window, make sure that the Download and install updates radio button is selected.
■As per your individual choice, you can check or uncheck the I want to help make the installation of Windows better checkbox from the bottom.
■Click Next to continue.
■From the bottom of the License terms window, check the I accept the license terms checkbox and click Accept.
■Wait until Windows performs essential tests on your system.
■On the Ready to install window, leave everything as default in order to keep all your personal files, Windows settings and applications intact, and click Install.
Note: You can also configure what Windows should keep while upgrading by clicking Change what to keep, and then selecting the desired radio button from the Choose what to keep window and clicking Next.
■Once everything is done, wait until you are upgraded to Windows 10.
■Follow the on-screen instructions to personalize the OS upon completion.
