Windows 7 Task Manager is Disabled Even for Admins
What is Task Manager?
In Windows operating system, the Task Manager is used to view, monitor and manage the services that keep running in the background. With the help of Windows Task Manager, you can also monitor the performance and usage of the physical memory and the CPU.
In Windows operating system, there are many applications that run simultaneously. Due to some reason, many times any one or more such applications stop functioning properly. In this situation, even the close button, which is present at the top right corner of the interface, fails to exit the non-responding application. To eliminate such issues Task Manager is used which allows the administrators (or some times normal users) to terminate the application forcefully.
Also, there are some processes that are not mandatory for the operating system to run but they still run in the background and unnecessarily consume the systems resources such as RAM, processor, etc. Because of this system performance remarkably decreases. With the help of Task Manager you can End those processes as well.
Considering the above scenarios, you can well understand the importance of Task Manager that almost all versions of Microsoft Windows have. However, due to virus attacks, malicious scripts, or any corrupt application, the Windows Task Manager automatically gets disabled. As the result of this, you cannot terminate the non-responding applications, and neither can you end the unwanted processes that run in the background, and uselessly consume the system resources.
When the Task Manager is automatically disabled in such obnoxious way, you can enable it manually through Local Group Policy Editor. Making any modifications in the Group Polices require elevated privileges (administrator account must be used to log on to the computer to make changes to the Windows Group Policies).
