Intel i7 Ivy Bridge Build (Advice is greatly appreciated)

That i7 won't benefit you in gaming for at least 5 or 10 years, so IMO i think you should rechoose. It is an 8 core actually and is way more powerful than you expect, also heats up more than the Sandy Bridge.

    Case selection

Go with the Rosewill Thor, it's great. Although i can't see your part selections. (:

Got a IVB i7 for xmas, time for a new build

You're definitely right about the Ivy being overboard, it's actually an 8 core lol. I use mine for 3D Rendering. Everything else is great though. Boy, did you get it cheap, no wonder you got it! Have Fun!

    Self-assembled gaming/editing computer

If this computer is strictly for Gaming, Internet, Video, etc, it is not necessary to have a powerful CPU like that, i have it, trust me. Although it says Quad-Core, the Ivy Bridge is actually an 8 Core, which will give you nearly no benefit whatsoever for Gaming, etc. If i had to take a wild...

Custom gaming pc featuring XSPC RayStorm 750 RX360 for the prcessor

Looks awesome, but is all that Ram needed, gets expensive? The most i've ever used is 93% of my 8GB. After Effects uses quite a bit. (: IMO i think 16GB is plenty. BTW my 3770k can overclock to 4.6 GHZ on air just fine. Temps on all 8 cores 100% load are around 80c, which the CPU can handle...

Can my computer run The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion?

The Nvidia 8800 GTX was powerful GPU in its day, don't be fooled by it's name, i had one and played Oblivion maxed out 1080p on a dual core AMD, with mods. (: FPS was around 45-50.

I WANT TO PLAY OLD GAMES IN PC.....

What games are you playing exactly? Doom, Quake? Most games, especially the ones from the 90's, can be downloaded and played perfectly on programs called emulators. What i would do is look up on google the game you want to play, space, then type emulator.

New Case Decision For First Build!

Check out the Rosewill Thor Case on Newegg, great quality and in my opinion, it's pretty badass. I bought it like a year ago, everything about it is great, keep in mind though, its big and heavy. As far as quality goes, its superb, some of it being steel. Also keep in mind their are LEDS AND...

    New Powerful System build?

Thanks for the reply, but i cant use the GPU for rendering, unless it's a Renderer which utilizes it, unfortunately that's still in the early stages, as fast as they are, i must wait awhile for them to mature. As far as games, yes, some like Crysis require a better GPU or Skyrim with mods. GTA 5...

    New Powerful System build?

Hello everyone, i am wondering about how i should build my new computer, as i do 3d rendering, and the specs i have now are not enough. FYI: I use Maxwell Render and Cinema 4D's Physical and Standard Render. Current Specs: Windows 8 Quad Core Ivy Bridge 3770k 4.0 GHz (overclock) Cooler Master...

After Effects, C4D, and Gaming Build

Everything looks great, besides the RAM, 32gb is not necessary, trust me, i also use C4D, After Effects, Zbrush, etc. You shouldn't need more than 16GB. As far as the Hard Drive i would highly recommend an SSD, fast transfer speeds, game loading times, searching files is quick, and very fast OS...

How many cores do i need?

I would go with a quad core or six core, as either way you will be future proof. Although games do not support more than 4 cores that i know of, you must understand that your OS will be, therefore giving you extra power on the four cores your using, etc.
