I'm not able to access safe mode for some reason. When I start the computer the blue screen immediately appears saying configuring windows update. This message eventually disappears and I can get online. When I log off I pressed shift and restart together but all I get is the blue screen saying...

I've managed to sort it. For some reason cburnerxp won't recognise my external drive unless I plug it into the laptop before I open CDburnerxp. I was plugging it in afterwards and I was only getting the E drive as an option. I've downloaded anyburn too so will give that a go. Thanks for the help. 👍

I'll try that thanks. I did convert a couple of files into MPEGs with AVC converter which are small enough to fit on a 4.7GB DVD-R. I did one before on the disc drive built into my laptop when it was working but now it's not. I just need a new platform to put the files on to so I can burn them...
