[SOLVED] 1440p gaming / streaming CPU.

Hey, I've been building PC's for many years, but have never been interest in streaming. I've been asked to help my nephew build his first gaming rig and he's interested in playing at 1440p and streaming. Thinking a 2070 Super will be a good GPU. Which CPU would be better, r5 3600x, or r7 2700k.

[SOLVED] Been gone a while, need some advice.

Thanks for the replies. Same hardware and price and I was coming up with. I told her it would be cheaper when I assumed 1080p 60fps. They just told me he was hoping for 120hz, and as usual I forgot a copy of windows 10. They don't have another copy they can move.

[SOLVED] Been gone a while, need some advice.

I've been out of the PC hardware loop for a few years now. I only pay attention when it's time for me to upgrade, and since I always go for the best in my own builds it's always been simple. However my sister has asked for help building a PC for my nephew. I'm not sure exactley what games he...

need help think about getting a gaming pc

Besides, this might be frowned upon on Tom's but the best games you can play right now are on PS4. I use mine way more than my gaming PC, so if you don't have a playstation already I'd pick one up, pretty cheap used anymore

need help think about getting a gaming pc

I'd keep the monthly payment for those system each month for 6 or 7 months, after that you could get a decent PC from elsewhere paid off up front, instead of paying over 3k for a PC only worth 1200 dollars or so.

need help think about getting a gaming pc

Honestly, No. These rental places should be outlawed, same as Payday loan services, but I digress. I admit, I don't now much about the pre-built market, but I've known people who have bought pcs from cyberpower, I buy power etc, and what i saw there with a quick glance is cheaper and far...

    Getting ready for Destiny 2

I've had both, a 1440p 144hz Gsync Monitor, a 4k 60hz Gsync monitor, and I'm now using a 65 inch samsung ks8000 (4k HDR Tv) I have 2 1080Ti's, and to be honest I'm looking into a good sit/stand desk and going back to the 1440, high refresh.... you don't know how badly you will miss gsync and...

    Does a 4790k bottleneck a 1080ti

I have a 4790k OC 4.6, and 2 1080 Ti's, no bottleneck, all is good. Don't think there would be an issue at stock speeds either.

    1080 TI 11GB PCIe 8x only 8GB/s

It will load the same stuf into the memory on both cards, for example if your game uses 2GB Vram, it will use 2 GB on each card... the Benefit comes from both GPUS doing the processing. Besides there is nothing in gaming you would use 22GB of vram for... as I've said I have 2 1080Ti's running...

    1080 TI 11GB PCIe 8x only 8GB/s

The VRam is mirrored in SLI. no matter how many cards you had 2, 3 or 4, you will always have the ram of 1 card.

    1080 TI 11GB PCIe 8x only 8GB/s

You'll be fine with that's I have 2 1080 Ti's with 16 PCIE lanes. The speed and vram amounts are 2 different things.

    What wire is this?

Usually its for USB 3.0 ports on the front of your case. Yah, what the guy above me said.

    1080p or USB 3.0?

What are your other specs? Will you be able to run games at 1080 with acceptable FPS? I only ask because if your hardware is old enough that you run at 720 and only have usb 2.0 there is a chance you wont be able to run modern games at 1080p anyway. That said, if your specs are good enough...

Accidentally bought watercooling GPU; need to find air cooling solution to replace it

Are they still returnable? If you just bought them that would be your best bet, that's really expensive for a 1080 you have to buy additional cooling on top of it.

4000$ Workstation/Gaming Pc, is it good?

To answer that question, Yes, all the parts are good, and will work together just fine, albeit beyond overkill for 1080. As for a motherboard, look for an ROG series x299, they'll most likely have everything built in you want, i.e the Bluetooth, WiFi, sound, etc.
