    Building New Home Server

ok, Final parts list (maybe) https://pcpartpicker.com/list/FjK6bj I swapped the MSI board for an ASRock. its got two more SATA ports... so I can always add one extra drive to the system If i need the storage. And I took boosted1g's advice and i'll leave out the ADATA drive for a Samsung.

    Building New Home Server

I thought about a M.2 NVMe drive for boot. But that seemed overkill for a server... The ADATA drive seemed better than a thumb drive (which most guides online use) but not too expensive. And I see your point about the Pentium G4560. Seems to be pretty close in performance to the i3. If Ryzen 3...

    Building New Home Server

My old home server died recently and i'm looking to build a new one. Last one ran for 7 years and I'm hoping to get as many years from the new one. mITX form factor with @ least 4 HDD. Computer started up then shut down, won't come back on

Did the system start up? Were the fans spinning and lights on the case on? It could be the graphics card isn't seated all the way. I would remove the card and plug your monitor into the HDMI port on the top of the case. Since your CPU (the Core i5-6400) has integrated graphics, you should be...

I assume this is the power supply your referring to: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151093 as far as I can tell it only has one main power switch on it. As for motherboard and RAM compatibility, the motherboard's specs should tell you the speed of DDR4 memory it can...

    System powering on questions

RX 480 spiking when idle in MSI afterburner

According to these charts the RX 480 beats out the GTX 960 http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-radeon-rx-480-polaris-10,4616-7.html So it should overall perform better... What resolution are you gaming at? Not sure about the random spikes but you may be CPU bottlenecked if your playing above...

    PC will not turn on

It'll be more helpful to know what hardware you have. Not all 1000W PSUs are equal... You mentioned that you also replaced 'the mono' (motherboard I assume?). So that leaves RAM, CPU, GPU and peripherals. I'd unplug any extraneous peripherals, and your graphics card (if your CPU had integrated...
