So if wifi isn't an issue and for this price range usb 3.0 doesn't make sense, should I go for the asus mentioned earlier or for a Mikrotik?

Well the usb port is for a nas drive so even if it's not full usb 3.0 speed wouldn't it be better than a 2.0?

An i5 is very sufficient for gaming, any extra bucks should be spend on the gpu. If you are in the video, image editing, or designing, architectural and/or engineering design then an i7 is the only way to go
