    Tried the built-in MemOK! feature of the mobo and while it does some sorte of tests, the state still the same: no post/video, no beeps (with at least a RAM stick on)

    Yes, everything described here was already done with no drives. There was one time that it get passed the post and even entered the OS, but after rebooting it returned to that bad state.
