Question I think my network connection's being spied on by my college...

So, for some reason the internet (connected to school wifi through ethernet) suddenly stopped working. Kept giving me a "Your Network is not private / net:: err cert common name invalid" error. So I tried connecting through wifi (still through my router) instead of ethernet. This time it asked...

Question "AMD" RAM for Intel CPUs

Can I assume that any RAM that's tested to work at its specified speed on AMD CPUs will work at the same speed on Intel cpus (since AMD is more picky with RAM). What about Intel X CPUs?

[SOLVED] Leaving CPU fan header unused - is this okay?

thanks for the quick reply! I've done the latter (100% pwm mode), think it worked fine. I prefer a quiet system, however, which is why I prefer not to run it at 100% (and prefer to connect the aio pump to the pump header, as any fan connected to it will run at full speed and be really noisy)

[SOLVED] Leaving CPU fan header unused - is this okay?

I think the cpu fan header on my B450i Strix is defective. Any fan plugged into it will oscillate in speed, creating a very annoying oscillating humming sound with my ML120. Is it ok to not use it? Only issue it's causing so far is a "cpu fan error" message that pops up when starting up my...

[SOLVED] Can going i/o-shield less cause any sort of issues?

No one's brought up the issue of overheating cables, so I guess it's fine? I noticed my braided mouse cable has been wearing off, not sure if that's the heat from my pc.

[SOLVED] Can going i/o-shield less cause any sort of issues?

Specifically with overheating cables? Is that a thing? I built a Silverstone SG13 machine. Obviously with such a compact form factor, the airflow isn't the greatest. So I decided to remove the mobo io/shield in order to allow the case to breathe a bit more. However, I noticed that the cables...

Question Could I have peeled something important off an NVME PCB when pulling off its sticker?

So I bought an SX8200 Pro 1TB. It came with a sticker. After putting it on, I didn't like it and decided to pull it off. The adhesive was quite strong, and I noticed there was a black spot on the sticker after peeling it off. My drive is running slower than I expected (3200 read / 2800 write...

[SOLVED] Sparks coming out of my ram sticks?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AuH8M6Hto60&feature=youtu.be at 0:06 There was a spark coming out of my ram every few seconds. It's gone now, after I restarted my PC. Should I be worried? It isn't part of the lighting effect.

Stock Ryzen 5 2600 hitting very high clocks?

I was playing around with HWMonitor and I noticed something odd. 3 cores of my CPU turbo'ed to 3.9 ghz even though they were pretty much idle. At one point 2 of them hit 4.4 ghz. Doesn't Ryzen 5 2600 only turbo to around 3.9 ghz? Is this normal? System was set to "Power saver" mode

Can a bad motherboard damage other components?

I tried searching online but my case is a little different from others. I bought a "Gigabyte GA-AB350M-Gaming 3" which was on clearance at Frys through Google Express for $40. I just got it today and I noticed a few things: -the motherboard didn't come w/ a user's manual (not a big case as I...

Is it possible for radiator fans to blow water into the case and damage the components?

I know, the question sounds a little silly. I accidentally got some water on the exterior of the front of the case, where I installed my radiator as intake. My pc was turned off at the time. Around a minute later, I turned it on, and the fans were blowing the hardest and loudest I've ever...
