Could anyone explain to me and others why the Dell Dimension E521, with its am2/am2+ cpu socket can not support a phenom x3 or x4 or other newer prossesors unlike the the X2 64 6000+ and the 6400+, widley thought of as the maximum cpu,s you can get for the E521. thanks in advance.:??:

yea i will get you some pics when i get a chance. hecktic life having twins. now before i upgraded my ram and cpu i used clockgen to overclock from 2.2 to 2.5 mgz. now it freezes when i propt the settings at start up. it cant be the ram exceeding 800mgz because the multyplyer of 15 in the 6000+...

you could get the 125w 6400 black edition. a dell optilex heatsink and fan to cool it. also there are plenty of good powerfull gpu,s that are pci express x16. you will need a decent psu with extra power cables for the new gpu and 16Gb of ram would go in if you rely needed it. 8Gb wil do tho

i believe you have the am2/am2+ socket. that would make the best cpu for your mobo a x2 64 6000+ or 6400 black edition with a little extra cooling
