The front cover on this thing is a major downfall. Prime95, at 3.9Ghz, with front cover on, hit 75C and I stopped the test 2 minutes into it. Without cover, for 20 minutes, max temps at 67C. I think it's time to mod the front cover and add in some mesh.

Ended up buying the Masterliquid 240, as it was on sale for $60.00, and just couldn't beat the bargain. It does good enough for what I need, as long as I have the front cover off the case. So, next thing I am doing is mod my case and put a mesh front on it. Without cover, Prime 95 for 20...

Read a lot of posts on P400 fan configuration,but no one who has actually done some sort of testing to an optimal fan configuration. Someone mentioned running the top 2x120 and rear 1x120 as intake with the rad up front as an exhaust for optimal positive airflow. Does this make sense...

@Agathor, I am not opposed to a 360. The 360 would be on the same boat as the 280, where no extra fans could be placed up front. Given, there is another 10% surface area on the 360. Would that surface area calculate to more cool air than putting the extra 120mm below a 240mm?

Hey guys, My entire system specs are in signature. R 7 1700X running at 3.8Ghz, with a Hyper 212 EVO, in a Phanteks P400S case My idle temps are around 38 to 42 C and I want to get those temps down to 30-32 C on idle. My house is AC'd and normally sits at about 22.5C to 24C. My PC pretty...

And the winner is....the 1700X. Plugged it in, set it to 3.8Ghz at 1.35volts, just to get something going until I have more time to fine tune it. Hyper 212 keeping it at 36C, with a short 20 min Prime95 run keeping it at 66-67C. I know I can do better, just need a whole day to tinker with it now:)

@ohiou_grad_2006, I'd be hard pressed to give up my 3 x Acer 24 inch 1080p, low latency, monitors for a single 27 inch. Yes, excited to see what Volta is all about as well. Maybe not so excited over what the pricing for it is going to be. Maybe it will drive the price of the 1080 down some and make that card affordable....or maybe Volta will make me say "shut up and take my money!" Lol
