I recently purchased a laptop with 8GB of ram however none of my applications and games seem to find it enough so I have a 16gb upgrade kit that I want slot in. Problem is I am not sure if opening the laptop will void my warranty. The manufacturer is Dell.

I have run memtest86 and it went through 4 full loops with 0 errors. So ram doesnt appear to be an issue. I ran chkdsk /r and immeditly after it finished in crashed again with a critical process died.

Was running memtest64 for around 2 hours with the limit set to infinity. The software didn't find any error but laptop just blue screened. UNEXPECTED STORE EXCEPTION. What do you think this points at?

So i booted up the software. It appears to be more than fine. Health wise at least. Only issue I have is that its giving me a different used capacity reading to what windows is giving me so not sure what to believe.
