MAX already supports 3rd gen Ryzen without needing to update and what b550 offers besides pcie gen 4 nvme support cause I'm not gonna use that

I looking to get a Ryzen 3300x and I was wondering what's the best mobo pairing. Right now I'm looking at b450 tomahawk max. Is it over kill for this CPU or not?
