I have some Thermaltake tg-7 thermal grease and I was wondering if 3.3 W/ m-k is good.

I just put a 1.5 TB HDD in an HP Compaq pc5700. And it will not even initiate the hard disk self test. It fails in about 20 seconds

Try the sound settings as I said above first. If that doesn't help try and get a quality sound card for your PC. Don't forget to install the driver when/if you get the sound card or you will not get any sound out of your PC.

It could be that you don't have any more PCI lanes on your chipset or CPU can't remember which one has PCI lanes at the moment.

Did you try to go into the sound settings in windows? That could be the problem. When I got my new laptop (still in the box) for some reason the sound setting was not on the proper setting. If this doesn't help try contacting your motherboard manufacturer. Then Microsoft customer support. Hope...
