i forgot to mention that i do have an iPhone 5C i onced used an Android phone to tether (thru usb) a notebook to a wifi signal because i had forgotten the wifi pw...granted, i no longer own that android because of silly quebec laws.. the android deice was connected to the wifi... and it had or...

eventually i plan to.. but i simply need a solution for the remaining 7 days...

1 notebook is windows 8.1 1 is win 7 last 1 is linux.... and my latest toy uses mac os x.. so that is a dead giveaway... but... i only have wifi... and it has no wifi card until the 1st...... so is there away to use an ethernet cable between a random notebook and the apple so it can sort of use...

this finaly puts this to bed... found a computer in the trash.. sata.. lucky me... i pocket the hd and test it in the dock.. it works... it is sad that all my mohers final memories r gone.... but i can accept that...granted .. the HDD is covered by the warranty, but i couldnt really care less...

did this some years back, and apart from the novelty, this whole thing is pointless, processor and an old Radeon had the mineral oil heating up rater hot... consider cycling the oil through a radiator but i had alot of trouble finding a pump strong enough to cycle something thick as mineral oil...

not everyone on this planet can be Canadian and honest.. or can they ? lol

well todays events have SEALED my suspicion of that PARTICULAR store, i returned to it, saw the same manager, asked him if he could test the hdd in front of me, he went pale and outright refused LOL

funding is a tiny issue.. if i could even get the money for a public transit ticket, id go to the store that i got this dock, even if it is a crappy one... i just need to make certain my families memories are safe with me...

i guess ill keep poking around till i have a solid answer sorry

as previously stated, on the dock.. it spools up and spins for no more than 15 seconds and either the speed is reduced to an rpm i cant feel.. or simply. it stops altogether

since owning this HD i NEVER let it get hot....
