    Question Build Upgrade Check

I think I've got the finalized parts list for my upcoming build, and just want to get some feedback to make sure I'm not way out of whack with components before I start ordering over the next day or two. Primary use of this build will be gaming at 1440p and streaming at 1080p. Some of the...

Question X570 Motherboard Choice - Need Feedback

Thanks for the help guys! Will likely wind up going with something from Asus, either the Prime Pro variant or one of the Strix models. It all really boils down to what kind of sales Memory Express puts on.

Question X570 Motherboard Choice - Need Feedback

I'm pretty set against using anything from Gigabyte due to a ton of issues with the product I've had from them before. Fool me once... With the TUF Gaming, is it mostly just a case of not overpaying for the same feature set?

Question X570 Motherboard Choice - Need Feedback

I'm still having a hell of a time deciding on an X570 motherboard to go with for my upcoming Boxing Day upgrade. I'll be getting a 3700X or 3800X (depends on sale price at my local store), and will be pairing it with an existing kit of 4x8GB 3200mhz RAM. Depending on what the current generation...

Question CPU Upgrade - AMD or Intel?

I can go up to $800 CAD. The Ryzen 7 3700X is just over $400, which leaves anywhere between $250-400ish for the motherboard itself.

Question CPU Upgrade - AMD or Intel?

I'll have a look around and see what I can find on motherboard reviews. I've used MSI boards almost exclusively in the past 5 years so, so it's a bit of a step outside my comfort zone to switch manufacturers.

    Question Overheating i7-7820X

It's not so much that it would be the difference. This is all inside the actual CPU package itself. Something like this going from top to bottom. CPU Cooler Thermal Paste CPU Heat spreader Liquid Metal CPU If the CPU has been delidded, replacing the liquid metal may help, or it may not change...

    Question Overheating i7-7820X

Delidding the CPU entails pulling the metal heat spreader off the top of the CPU itself, and replacing the stock thermal material with liquid metal for better thermal transfer.

Question CPU Upgrade - AMD or Intel?

Is the clockspeed difference going to make as big of a difference at 1440p compared to 1080p? I've always been under the impression that as resolution increases things become more GPU bound than CPU bound.

Question CPU Upgrade - AMD or Intel?

I've got an NH-D15 in a Meshify C packed with fans, so cooling shouldn't be much of an issue. Neither should power as I've got a Corsair HX1000i. It's a couple years old but I haven't really hit a reason to change it out yet. I'm definitely leaning a little more to the AMD side as the doubled...

    Question Overheating i7-7820X

If it isn't consistent then it's hard to narrow down the issue, especially if it's only overheating some of the time. If it isn't a constant issue. Like Dunlop said you need to figure out if the pump is running when the CPU overheats. If it is then it's another problem. If it isn't then either...

    Question Overheating i7-7820X

If the pump is dead, it would explain why you get a few minutes as it hits 100c. It's the liquid in the loop getting heatsoaked near the CPU block, and since the pump isn't circulating it, it isn't able to cool itself down. I had the exact same thing happen last year and it was giving the same...

Question CPU Upgrade - AMD or Intel?

As my PC sits right now, I'm running an overclocked i7-6700K with 32GB of 3200mhz RAM, an RTX 2080 Super, plus a bunch of SSDs for storage (1 m.2, 4 sata drives). I use a dual monitor setup, including a 1920x1080p 144hz monitor and a 2560x1440p 155hz monitor. I've noticed recently that it's...
