[SOLVED] Desktop that's overly sensitive to Static Electricity - Keeper or Loser?

As another followup to this thread. I ended up returning that PC due to it crashing one more time. That last straw was too much and too close to my allowed time-frame for returning it. As mentioned, the same problem occurred with 2 PCs from the same place...both exactly the same build. Exactly...

[SOLVED] Impossible Ram Installation on Motherboard with Tabs on only one end of Slots

Is this now becoming a thing? That is, memory slots with an moveable tab on only one end? Completed my very first build today using the MSI B550 Tomahawk. Spent 20 minutes trying to get a couple modules in. An insane experience when only one end opens up. I still have no idea how I managed to...

Well, that could've been Joe Schmoe responding on the forum for I all know. But, based on his mention I WAS able to hunt down related mentions. One is from this very forum dating back to 2011. :) https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/missing-wire-pin-in-20-pin-connector.213483/

[SOLVED] Pin 20 at PSU end of 24 pin MB Cable missing wiring. Normal?

Can anyone confirm whether Pin 20 of the PSU end of the 24 pin Motherboard cable should be missing? It's an EVGA 650w Supernova G+ Posted at the EVGA forums and was told that it's normal now due to the 5V terminal that's not used anymore being intentionally left out. Just want to be sure...

[SOLVED] Intimidated by Front Panel Connectors for B550-F Rog Strig - First Time Build

Planning on my first build using the ASUS B550-F ROG Strig motherboard. Thing is, the manual doesn't get as concise as the one I'd seen for the MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX - which I was originally planning to buy. Can't find a decent youtube vid (if any) on the installation of this board. Unlike the...

[SOLVED] Desktop that's overly sensitive to Static Electricity - Keeper or Loser?

Well, it's now a day since I last posted, and after a full day cleaning of the room, elevating of the PC onto a wooden table away from any wiring and reduction of peripherals used in the room, I can say that it hasn't crashed. Don't know if your mention of a supposed 'grounding problem' included...

[SOLVED] Desktop that's overly sensitive to Static Electricity - Keeper or Loser?

Thanks for responding. My specs are below. Painting a more descriptive picture: I've the pc connected to an Old surge protector. Had it sitting on the laminate floor until I figured out that laminate is bad with electricity. So I placed it in a big enough cardboard box for now. Have begun...

[SOLVED] Desktop that's overly sensitive to Static Electricity - Keeper or Loser?

Hi, I’ve this problem with static electricity and my newly purchased desktop. Question: Might a PC being overly sensitive to static electricity be indicative of poor workmanship/design? I’m within the return period and it’s the 2nd in this household (same exact make and model) with the same...

    Multiple Partitions -- Cloning Problem

Got a load of software to reinstall but that's all okay by me. I deactivated those I needed to on my older drive. Will now order a caddy to install the old one in here. Awesome having this kind of speed with a SSD. Thank you again pal!

    Multiple Partitions -- Cloning Problem

I owe you a six pack USA! Hasn't asked me for a license key yet and if it does I feel confident I'd be fine now. THANK YOU and forgive me for ever doubting. :-)

    Multiple Partitions -- Cloning Problem

This would be my 6th or 7th attempt with this very same drive. Trying desperately not to succumb to paying MS $200 for win 10 ....not so much because of the cost but because of how foolish it feels in the greater scheme of all this. :-(
