I stepped through the problem with Microsoft and for some reason it required a reboot and then it worked fine, which is a little embarrassing for me I guess aha! Thank you both for your time, I really appreciate it!

But that's not so for Local accounts and accounts on the domain is it? Because when I open office in the domain account, it prompts for a product key.

I tried that, that's how I used the 'quiet' setting for all 4 fans, but the rpm is still very high. I have seen it get to 1000 rpm on idle on other systems, just not this one, but I can't figure out what I've done wrong.
