Can you turn on motherboard without power supply?

I've had problems with my newly built PC. I bought a power supply tester and found that my PSU was DOA... Only one light on the power supply tester was lit up. Now that I know my PSU was dead all this time, I can send it back for replacement. But I also want to know if my motherboard is dead...

Newly built PC won't turn on at all!

I built a new PC and nothing is turning on at all; PSU fan doesn't spin, CPU cooler and case fans don't spin either. I bought all PC components as new. I even checked if some parts had any visible fingerprints before I started handling them, there were none. I put all the parts together in the...

Where is the LED on my motherboard?

I have a Gigabyte GA-H110M-A motherboard, and I don't know where the LED light is. Nothing on my motherboard lights up when I have everything plugged in and powered on. Does my motherboard not have an LED light? If it does, where is it?

    Desktop motherboard testers?

Are there any desktop motherboard testers that go into PCI-E (x1 or x16) slots? My motherboard doesn't have a PCI slot, so I can't use those. PCI-E motherboard testers are almost nonexistent... Unless you can use an LPC motherboard tester and put it in the PCI-E x1 slot on a desktop motherboard??

PC won't turn on after build?

Just tried to short the motherboard by touching the power switch with a screwdriver, but nothing happened. Is my motherboard dead or something? Whenever I try to screw in the motherboard, the screw on the bottom left side of the motherboard just takes one turn before it can't turn anymore...

PC won't turn on after build?

Yes, it's plugged in. I just removed my motherboard out of the case to check if there is any bent pins; when I look to the side of the socket, it looks like the pins are all bent in the same direction, is this normal? When I look above it, pins don't look bent.

PC won't turn on after build?

All cables are plugged in, checked them every time I went to see if PC would turn on. At the beginning, installing the motherboard was hard since the I/O shield was not installed all the way (but I thought it was). I was careful of not scraping the backside of the motherboard, though. When I...

PC won't turn on after build?

I just finished building my first PC, but it won't turn on. I double checked every connector to make sure they are plugged in. Power supply is plugged into the wall, and switched on. I have a PCI cable plugged in to the PSU, but it is not in use. I press the power on button on the case, and...

    How do I ground myself?

Motherboard manual says to unplug the power supply. And can I put a standoff (painted) in the power supply screw hole in the back, then screw an unpainted screw on the standoff? So I can clip the anti static strap on the screw? Have the PSU in the case while doing this or have it out?

Do I need to install standoffs?

How tight do I need to screw the standoffs? Really tight using some type of screwdriver, or tight enough until I can't move it anymore using my fingers?

Do I need to install standoffs?

Case: Corsair 100R (w/ the window) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-H110M-A There are standoffs pre-installed into the case, but I believe it is for an ATX motherboard since there are 9 standoffs installed. There are already 4 standoffs installed that will go with my micro-ATX motherboard. Do I need...

    How do I ground myself?

I bought an anti-static wrist strap. My case is painted black, including the metal parts. The only unpainted metal are the screws for the power supply. How should I go about this? Also, people say that you should install your power supply, plug it in, and have it turned off in order to ground...
