Thanks. That was what I was afraid of. My 4 year old PC (top of the line then,) compares favorably to today's PC's except for the graphics card. Upgrading the CPU and MB just for PCIE4 doesn't make sense. Perhaps my next PC will have PCIE4.

I have a ASUS ROG Strix Z370-E Gaming LGA1151 (Intel 8th Gen) motherboard with 2 M.2 slots. I bought one Optane drive and one NVME Samsung drive. Does it matter which goes into witch M.2 slot?
