    Which CPU to get?

AMD. But, wait a few weeks for CES and see if AMD announces the time line on the 3000 series CPUs. If it's early in 2019, buy one of those. If it's going to be later in the year, such as May to August, then you decide if you can wait or not. Then look at the 2700x or even 2600x, depending on...

[SOLVED] Should I downgrade from ryzen 1700 to 1600x for more gaming performance?

It is your RAM speed. Get 3200, I use Flare-X and it's been stable since day 1 in May 2017. Regardless of what CPU you get, your current RAM will hold you back. New RAM may be costly, but money on a new CPU will be mostly pointless with 2400 RAM.

    Ryzen upgrade 1700x

Get the 1700x, can't beat the price and source. Spend more on Flare-X 3200 RAM as it is definitely worth it. I've been running a 1600x since May 2017 on an ASRock Taichi with the Flare-X and couldn't be happier with it. I may upgrade next year to the 3xxx series but can't see a reason to as I...

Need Really Help For Upgrade CPU

Minimalist approach: get an FX-6350, your board may not support the power needs of an 8000 series. I didn't look up the specs, but I recommend you do so before committing to an FX-8xxx CPU. I ran a 6350 for several years and it was more than enough for WoW, which I played heavily with it...

    G.Skill Trident Z 16GB DDR4 Ram on Ryzen 7 Build?

"....destroys RAM..." is a bit misleading in any way it is said or typed. "False", literally. "Likes fast RAM" is more accurate. I think you would find 10s of 1,000s of people use that RAM. I opted for the G.Skill Flare-X 3200 myself and it's been perfect. If that RAM is on your ASUS...

    MOBO for Ryzen 5 1600x

While I always recommend the ASRock Taichi, simply because mine is spectacular.... for your budget, and if you're good with spending $350, I would take the G.Skill Flare-X 2x8GB RAM and then the best reviewed mobo that fits your needs for I/O. That RAM was 3200 out of the box for my mobo. If...

Newegg Selling 1080ti for over 1k

You can still find cards at decent prices. You need to essentially refresh your search screen every 10 to 15 minutes. I just got a cad earlier this week after missing out on several over the last two weeks. What I suggest is you go into Newegg's left panel and sort/filter to the cards and...

    help picking ram

G.Skill Flare-X, while expensive, is the default best buy. I have 2x8 and it was 3200 out of the box, no configurations on my Taichi board.

    X370 Motherboard Advice

Strongly recommend the ASRock Taichi with G.Skill Flare-X 3200 RAM. I built a system based on these with a 1600x in May 2017 and it has been flawless. RAM was at 3200 from the moment I booted. 960 Evo M.2 drive for the OS, which is Windows7, btw. SSD drive for apps/games/etc. Flawless...

Dutch DPA: Windows 10 Still Violates EU Data Protection Law

    1. MS will never change. They'll dance the dance, especially in the US where laws allow pervasive data collection; 2. AGAIN with the freaking 'pop-up/chase me' video boxes??? MY GOD people. Enough. You managed to remove them for a few months. Sad little devs trying to sneak them back in...

    AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1920X Review

<Moderator edit for rudeness> Who buys this class of CPU and bases that choice on how well it 'games'? The performance is not 'mediocre' either. It's competitive. And as for Ryzen, you do get what you pay for: Exceptional value to performance. Back under the bridge with you, please.

    Tomahawk B350 + Ryzen 5 1600 Problem

The original bracket you put back... assuming you just inserted it back in the holes... they are both backward. What is the cooler you are trying to mount? If it requires removing the standard brackets, it should come with a back plate and/or other mounting accessories. The stock cooler...

Too much thermal paste on ryzen 1600??

Obvious answer. Remove the CPU, clean it up VERY carefully and use a much smaller amount. There are countless web resources that will show you how to do this safely and properly.

    Ryzen 5 1600X vs 1600

If you are OK with doing an OC, get the 1600. You'll end up in about the same place, +/- 3.8. If you get a good 1600x, sure, you'll hit 4.0 or maybe 4.1 but that's all luck. I have no doubt I can push if not top 4.0, but I just don't "need" to. At the price range, and having a nice AIO, I'd...
