I'm upgrading b/c I need to replace a blown graphics card, and I'm looking to get one strong enough that will support Vista's Aero interface. I'm looking to get a 256MB card, and almost every single one requires at least 300w of power. Hence, my need for a stronger PS than my current 250w...
Hello,
I am in the middle of upgrading my video card, and also need to do the power supply at the same time. I'm looking to upgrade from my current desktop 250w PS to a 400w PS. Can you tell me if my proposed new PS would work for me based on the specs?

Do I really need more RAM? Is getting a new video card (i.e. using Aero) going to drag down my performance?
I was hoping a 256MB card would take care of that.
I actually dual boot with XP and Vista, but am switching mainly to Vista now. The system runs very smoothly on what I have now, but I need to replace my dead video card so I figured I might as well get one that is compatible with Aero.
Any idea whether I'll need a 128-bit card? Or will a 256MB 64-bit card run the Aero interface?
I need to run a 1280x1024 resolution as well. Will all 6-series and up cards run this res?
I did some research and it doesn't appear the NVidia 8 series supports AGP, which is what I need. I think I traced it back to the 6 series as having AGP compatibility.
If this is the case, is the 6 series something that could fully handle Vista? I'm aiming to get one with 256MB. Also, do you...

If I remove the graphics card, should the on-board graphics port automatically...
Yup, the "No Signal" text is on the monitor for a few brief seconds then it goes away and the LCD appears to go asleep.
It's a 4-year old desktop that is still pretty strong as far as up-to-date hardware. I'd like to attempt to fix it if it doesn't break my bank before looking at getting a new...
So over the last few days I've run into a troublesome problem with my desktop, and was hoping I could your opinions as to what the problem may be.
I had the computer on and everything was working fine, until I came back in the room and the monitor appeared to be in sleep mode (thinking this was...
I'm about to order an HP DV6000t laptop, and I need to decide which processor would be ideal. I won't be using this for heavy gaming or video-editing...mostly everyday surfing, student work, and managing my music collection. Here are the choices HP gives me:
1) Intel® Celeron® M Processor 520...
