have you tried unplugging the monitor from power source and then plugging back in? alternatively, i read on Linus that a similar issue was resolved by using a newer model display port cable. good luck.

so i am curious about the forum's thoughts on upgrading my cpu. as a starter, i will say that it appears not necessary for me now. my cpu is still lightning fast and has shown no indication of slowing down these past 3 years. is it possible that we have reached a point in technology hardware...

about 8 more gigs of ram will prove useful, also, the 4gb of vram might be holding you back if you are running at high/ultra settings. ssd would certainly help. I'd guess oc'ing your cpu probably wont get more than 2-5fps in monster hunter.

Not gaming in 4k exclusively yet. My RX 480 is still impressing me in terms of performance at both 1080p and 1440p. I can get an aftermarket vega 64 for around $500. But I also want to wait for the Navi cards. Opinions appreciated.

turns out adding 4gb of RAM really did reinvigorate my laptop. apps are a bit more snappy and i can finally do some mid-level gaming without stutter, granted all graphics settings are on medium. thanks Tom's.

it appears that after bios update my OC'd 6700k will not downclock to 800mhz anymore. i have enabled all c-states, eist, and speedstep. windows power plan on balanced and minimum processor set at 0%. still idle at 1300-1600mhz. thoughts?
